Caption from Gray's Book: Joseph T. Taylor, a sociologist, came to Indianapolis in 1957 to serve as director of program development for Flanner House, an Indianapolis social service center. He became a part-time instructor in sociology at the IU Downtown Campus in 1958 and accepted a full-time faculty position in 1962. He was named associate director of the campus in 1965, acting director in 1966, and director in 1967. He became the first dean of the School of Liberal Arts in 1972, a position he held until 1978. After retiring as dean, he taught sociology classes and worked as a special assistant to IUPUI chancellor Glenn W. Irwin Jr. Taylor died in 2000.Caption from Gray's Book: Joseph T.
