Binning the Shinners?
Justin Moran • 21 October 2003

In his most recent article Anthony McIntyre rightly congratulates Brid Smith of the SWP for being willing to go to prison as what he calls a socialist political prisoner. I note he could not bring himself to congratulate and note the imprisonment of a Sinn Fein activist and several Sinn Fein supporters in the same protest against Bin Charges. There are in fact more Sinn Fein supporters in prison as a result of the protest than SWP activists. Are they not also socialist political prisoners? Or does Mr McIntyre's dislike of their party extend to activists willing to spend two weeks in prison for a principle?
