I
refer to the passing of Bernadette McAllister in a
far away place. I had the pleasure of meeting Bernadette
when she came, with Malachy, to the Banshee Pub in
Scranton. I even gave them directions to a short cut
back to New Jersey. Members of IOU (Irish Organizations
United) wanted to help as best we could at the time.
The people present all commented on what a nice couple
the McAllister's were and that Malachy was surely
blessed to have such a good wife. The national President
of the AOH, Ned McGinley had Malachy as a guest at
the annual Presidents dinner.
Bernadette was instrumental, by her personalty, in
getting their case national recognition and getting
politicians involved. Some even reversed their former
indifference.
America is a far distant place from Ireland. Bernadette,
however, belonged and was loved, so wasn't alone when
she passed over. She was with her extended family.
God bless and help you watch over your family, Bernadette.
