Time for Building
Father Sean McManus, Irish National Caucus • 21 October 2003

CAPITOL HILL. Tuesday, October 21, 2003---- Irish-Americans reacted with delight at the news that elections are being called for Northern Ireland.

"We congratulate Prime Minister Blair for correcting his mistake of May in cancelling the elections, and we congratulate Gerry Adams and David Trimble for negotiating the way forward", said Father Sean McManus, President of the Capitol Hill-based Irish National Caucus.

Father Mc Manus then went on to call on Republican dissidents embrace the peace-process: "I appeal to all of them to re-think their position, to accept the IRA ceasefire and embrace the peace-process.Irish-Americans will not support your devisive-splits or your continuation of violence."

"It is now time -- to use the favored phrase of Martin Luther King -- to build up " The Beloved Community" in Northern Ireland", he concluded.
