Ulster is a place not a mindset

Dáithí Mac Bhurrais • 2003

Ulster is a province consisting of nine counties, Donegal, Cavan, Monaghan, Derry, Tyrone, Fermanagh, Armagh, Down, Antrim. It is not however the six counties that make up the British Governments state of Northern Ireland. To the Unionists,
Loyalists and the British their Ulster is more a mindset than a real place that allows them to rule over, murder and restrict the basic Human Rights of the Irish communities. No one who views what goes on in the Occupied Six counties with an Irish Republican outlook would ever call the Occupied Six counties Ulster.
